Fashion Revolution Day 2015

On April 24th 2013 1133 people were killed when the Rana Plaza Factory complex collapsed in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The global fashion industry will be coming together this Friday the 24th April 2015 for Fashion Revolution Day. 

Fashion Revolution is about laying the foundations for responsible manufacturing and a traceable supply chain, so that something like this can never happen again. Fashion Revolution Day is about getting us out of our comfort zone. It's about making fashion brands more accountable for their production and manufacturing methods. The aim is to show the world that change is possible by challenging brands to answer simple questions like ‘who made my clothes’.

For The White T-Shirt Co team, the day has a personal poignancy because our friends and makers in Ukraine are going through major changes in their country. These are people we know and work with, who do have excellent working conditions but they have a country in turmoil and that makes it globally personal to us.

All our t-shirts are GOTS certified so we have a very transparent manufacturing journey, which as a reader of this post is obviously important to you. So please join us on Thursday to ask all brands to be clear and transparent about who made their clothes, to ask the fashion industry to take responsibility for their supply chains. On a positive note the day will also be about showcasing brands who are making change – from high street to haute-couture but lets keep it going. We’ve grown to accept a transparent food chain but shouldn’t it be the same for our clothes? So how can you get involved? Be curious. Find out more.
