Why transparency in the clothing industry matters.
On 24 April 2013, 1,134 people were killed and over 2,500 were injured when the Rana Plaza complex collapsed in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
That’s when Fashion Revolution was born.
This year Fashion Revolution week is bringing people from all over the world together to use the power of fashion to change the story for the people who make the world’s clothes. Fashion Revolution and their partner organisations believe transparency is the first step to transform the industry. And it starts with one simple question: Who made my clothes?
This simple concept is very much at the heart of our company. We know the people who grow our cotton and make our t-shirts and it's important to us that you know that too. You can see the full journey of your t-shirt on our Ethics page and can how your t-shirt is made in our Production video.
Because we believe in transparency we'd also like you to be fully aware of where we source our materials, and how they meet our ethical and quality standards.
Over the coming weeks, we'll also be sharing where else you can shop to find like-minded brands who are equally open and transparent about where their clothes are made.
Change within the fashion industry is underway, but it has a long way to go. Never be afraid to ask: Who Made My Clothes? Fashion Revolution is a Not For Profit organisation so if you'd like to help support workers all over the world please visit their donation page.
