The quality of our t-shirts start with our luxurious organic cotton and we’re often asked if special laundering is required. The answer is no - our t-shirts are designed to survive normal daily life. Our washing instructions are actually very simple:
We recommend not to tumble dry because high heat can dry out the fibres and prematurely grey the cotton. And of course we recommend organic, chemical free laundry products because we want our organic t-shirts to remain as beautifully chemical free as they left us!
We try and go natural as much as possible so we were delighted to find a local company who make our new products of choice - available on line too. Homescents have a range of natural laundry & household cleaners especially developed for sensitive skin. The laundry products are enzyme and petro chemical free and smell as good as they work.
We know from feedback our pure cotton t-shirts beautifully survive the daily abuse thrown at them, but emergencies do arise. So we thought, for those who have the time and commitment, we would share some great kitchen cupboard solutions that we have resorted to on occasions!
Perspiration |
Sweat and perspiration not only leave behind lingering odour issues but often that horrible yellow staining under arms. Baking Soda is a great way to remove stains & is a natural deodorizer.
For old or more stubborn stains try Borax! Borax is the original degreaser and beautifully helps remove oil and grease stains which are surprisingly present in sweat.

Tea & Coffee |
As we're rather a clumsy bunch we've tried a few of these in the office.
|
Red Wine |
We have tried the traditional salt and white wine recommendations. However, as above the secret is patience - let the salt or white wine soak up the stain. Don't be tempted to rub, just let the stain be flushed or absorbed out. The most fool proof method we've found though is this:
You may be interested to know that we use Hydrogen Peroxide to whiten our t-shirts in production. Unlike bleaching agents it is completely neutralised when diluted with water |
Lip Stick |
Place your t-shirt stain side down onto a clean paper towel or cloth to 'absorb' the stain. Then depending where you are you can use hairspray, neat alcohol or diluted washing up liquid to as a degreaser |
Chocolate |
Again this is a common issue we have in the office!
|
We do find Home Scents Earth Friendly Stain Remover an even easier standby now though!
So we promise you'll find your organic cotton t-shirt easy to care for, but should an emergency arise we hope these tips help too. If you have any of your own tips to keep your white t-shirt white do let us know!
